The Historical Museum of Gotland

In the museum you will meet 8 000 yers of the island`s rich history - from the Stone Age to the Viking Age, from the Medieval Period to present day. The exhibition on Natural history invites you to explore the unique nature of Gotland, with its rich flora and fauna, from limestone and fossils to the shores and the environmental threat to the Baltic Sea.

The museum also houses Fenomenalen, the science experience where you can try various technical inventions and experiments to your hearts content.

The Gotland Museum of Art

The Gotland Museum of Art is a section of the county museum. It is hosted in an own yellow building from 1847 situated in the middle of the cultural heritage, which the medieval town of Visby is. The Gotland Museum of Art is both a museum and an art hall as well. It has ten beautiful white rooms for exhibitions in three floors. Third floor is devoted to more steady shows about Art.

The Museum Shop and Café

Welcome to discover quality replicas of Viking Jewellery and explore our wide range ot local handicrafts, literature and postcards. There are also ingenious gadgets for young and old alike, linked in Fenomenalen. The museum café offers a relaxing break, in summer, you can sit under the walnut tree in our lovely courtyard.

Our farm museums, Norrbys, Petes, Kattlunds and Kapitelhusgården

Experience a time gone by at Norrbys in Väte, where the clock stopped some time in the 1950s. At Kapitelhusgården can you travel back to the Middle Ages. A typical Gotland white limestone farm house can be found at Petes in Hablingbo. At Kattlunds Gård you can experience Medieval times and visit the farm´s herb garden and orchard.
